Driving Icefields Parkway

The Icefields Parkway is a 232km scenic drive from Lake Louise to Jasper. Featuring snow capped peaks, more than 100 glaciers, waterfalls and turquoise lakes it’s  definitely one of the worlds most beautiful drives!

The best way to experience this drive in all of its glory would to plan it so you can drive from Lake Louise and spend the night in Jasper. Unfortunately due to time restirictions this wasn’t possible for us, we never actually made it all the way to Jasper (next time!). Instead we spent one half day and one full day driving and exploring as much as we possibly could! I do like to stop at every single lake, viewpoint and waterfall I see so this does make it quite a slow trip but we did make it into Jasper National Park in the end with Athabasca Falls being our final stop before we had to return back to Lake Louise.

When we picked up our hire car we got upgraded! So we were very lucky to have this extremely comfy vehicle as our trusty mode of transport!

Bighorn Sheep

I nearly had a heart attack watching this mum and her young one cross the road, luckily everyone was driving cautiously and they made it accross the road and then over this fence to safety. These cuties are bighorn sheep and they’re found in mountain ranges throughout North America.
